Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate

Supervised by Robin Dickey, LPC-S.

Laurel is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate and is passionate about helping adolescents and young adults through different life challenges. She takes a collaborative, person-centered approach, drawing on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based strategies. In counseling, she will work with the client to understand what's driving their struggles and build practical tools they can use outside of the sessions. Laurel believes that you’re the expert of your own life, and her role is to walk alongside you as you find your footing.

Laurel’s Education and Experience

After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Christian Brothers University, Laurel received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of St. Thomas in Houston.

Laurel has experience working with children and teens at several internships in both Houston and Memphis. Most recently, she has been co-leading group therapy sessions for girls aged 8-10.

Laurel’s Clinical Approach

Laurel is a newly licensed professional counselor associate who greets clients with a warm, open presence. She offers a collaborative, strengths-based approach, walking alongside clients as they navigate their mental health journeys. Laurel integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques—such as identifying and reframing unhelpful thoughts, behavioral experiments, and structured skill-building—with mindfulness practices that cultivate present-moment awareness, distress tolerance, and self-compassion.

Her style is practical and supportive: she helps clients set clear, achievable goals, develop actionable coping strategies, and track progress between sessions. Laurel emphasizes skill generalization, teaching clients how to apply CBT tools and mindfulness exercises to everyday situations so gains persist beyond the therapy room.
